Cecil the Lion…I have been following this story through Wildlife at Risk, an organization that focuses on saving wildlife in Africa, and today, as the news broke that it was an American that killed this animal for sport, for a trophy on his wall, to stroke what must be a shitty ego, to lie…well, let’s just say I wanted to add to the media fury that is now taking place this morning.
First let me say that I am not against hunting for the sake of food and conservation, but this hunting for sport or trophy hunting I just don’t understand.
I will jump in with the bandwagon here and agree that there should be a law banning trophy hunting and it should be called Cecil’s Law.
Thank you Cecil for bringing the business of trophy hunting to the mainstream…as animal lover and conservationist let me be one of the first American’s to apologize to you, for our lack of understanding, lack of attention to this issue, lack of education, and just plain pompous attitude towards nature and all it is.
I do not have a credit for this picture, I got it off Wildlife at Risk’s Facebook page.

Truly agree with all you’ve said, it’s discusting what goes on and that it is on all levels. How can we ever due what’s right and protect our animals, wildlife of all types, our trees, etc?
What is wrong with people, needing to kill and hang some head on the wall….? I will never understand.
Thank you for your comment. I was just reading on facebook a forwarded article about what the big deal is over a lion compared to human deaths…I have been sitting here stewing trying to come up with something to reply back…I cannot, for those type of people will never understand that when you kill nature you kill humankind, we are part of nature and are destroying the very means of survival for ourselves.
